In 2012, he started his career as an actor in Karan Johar film "Student Of the Year". In this film, he worked with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. In this film, he is a middle-class student who competes with his rich best friend for winning the championship. He also received a Filmfare award for "Best Male Debut of the Year" for this film. This film was a successful film. Then he worked as a hero in the film "Hasee Toh Phasee". In this film, he worked with Parineeti Chopra and Adha Sharma.
